Roger Mehta

Roger Mehta is a highly qualified and experienced addiction counsellor and psychotherapist with APCP (Association of Professional Counsellors and Psychotherapists in Ireland). He holds a B.A. degree in Counselling & Addiction Studies (2018) and a B.A. degree (Hons) in Counselling & Psychotherapy (2019) from ICHAS. In addition, he has a Diploma in Alcohol and Drug Studies (2011) from the University of Limerick.

For over 20 years, Roger has been devoted to supporting individuals who are facing mental health and addiction issues, commonly known as dual diagnosis. His areas of expertise include working with adolescents, people struggling with drug and alcohol addiction, and individuals who have experienced trauma-related challenges such as post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), anxiety, panic attacks, and depression. His deep knowledge and experience in these areas enable him to provide compassionate and effective help to those in need.

Roger is also the founder, director, and CEO of The Harmony Workshops. An innovative and contemporary music-based, dual diagnosis programme which has been widely delivered across the country since 2009, to post-primary schools, youth settings, residential drug rehabilitation centres, and on the medical unit of Mountjoy Prison in Dublin. The programme was shortlisted for the Social Entrepreneur of Ireland awards in 2013 and is endorsed by the HSE.

Since the year 2000, he has been involved in voluntary work within his community. He has helped individuals, families and professionals while collaborating with the HSE, specifically with the South Tipperary Substance Misuse Team. During this time, he has facilitated recovery programmes for inpatients at St Michael’s Psychiatric Hospital in Clonmel, Co. Tipperary.

Additionally, he has worked in the community as a youth worker with the Waterford and
South Tipperary Community Youth Service (WSTCY) and as a drug and alcohol facilitator with The Mid Tipperary Drug Initiative (MTDI). He completed his training as a counsellor and psychotherapist at Spafield Family Resource Centre, Cashel, Co. Tipperary, working with both adolescents and adults, leading to him becoming the centre’s child and family support worker for a time.
