Sylwia Kuchenna
I am Sylwia Kuchenna, Founder of Horizon Psychotherapy & Wellbeing Clinic and a
qualified, accredited psychotherapist with a diverse and extensive academic background in mental health.
My academic journey began with a Bachelor of Arts (Hons) in Law from Letterkenny
Institute of Technology in 2015. I later followed my passion for psychotherapy, graduating from PCI College in collaboration with Middlesex University, where I obtained a BSc (Hons) and a Diploma in Counselling and Psychotherapy. In 2022, I completed a Master’s Degree in Child and Adolescent Psychotherapy.
In 2024, I further deepened my clinical expertise by completing a two-year postgraduate training in psychoanalytical traumatology, earning the title of traumatologist. I am also a member of the Irish Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (IACP), and my work is guided by its professional and ethical standards.
Alongside my clinical practice, I am a lecturer in leading psychotherapy schools in Ireland, where I support and inspire the next generation of therapists. I am deeply committed to continuous professional development and regularly attend advanced trainings, courses, and international conferences to further expand my knowledge and clinical skills.
Beyond the therapy room, I am passionate about sharing knowledge and raising awareness around mental health and personal development. I am an active blogger and the creator of the YouTube channel Back to Self, where I explore psychological insights in an accessible and meaningful way.
As an author, I have written three impactful books: Grow into Your Happiness, The Secret Codes to Happiness, and Trauma Through Inner Child Eyes. I also design and facilitate transformative workshops focused on the Inner Child and trauma healing, as well as online courses and programs that support individuals in healing past wounds, building confidence, and creating healthier, more fulfilling relationships.
For me, psychotherapy is not just a profession—it is a profound passion and a privilege. I am deeply honoured to witness my patients’ journeys of growth, healing, and self-discovery. I believe that every individual is unique, and that each person deserves to feel seen, understood, and valued.
In my practice, I place great emphasis on creating a safe, supportive, and non-judgmental space where patients feel truly heard. I work primarily from a psychodynamic perspective, which focuses on understanding the deeper, often unconscious roots of emotional difficulties rather than only addressing surface-level symptoms.
The psychodynamic approach offers lasting and meaningful change by helping patients uncover patterns formed in early life experiences, understand their emotional world, and develop greater self-awareness. Through this process, patients can begin to recognise how past relationships and unresolved experiences may influence their present behaviours, thoughts, and feelings. This insight allows for deeper emotional processing, healthier coping mechanisms, and more authentic connections with oneself and others. Rather than offering quick fixes, this approach supports long-term transformation and a stronger, more integrated sense of self.
Horizon Psychotherapy & Wellbeing Clinic was created from a genuine desire to offer a different kind of mental health service—one rooted in compassion, depth, and excellence.
Our mission is to remind every person that they deserve the very best, and that their life truly matters. Horizon is a space where individuals come to heal, grow, and reconnect with themselves in a meaningful and lasting way.
With heartfelt regards,
Sylwia Kuchenna
